I’m Wednesday night 3 November 1965 @ 23:45 hrs. My Hero Phil Simmons seized his place in Historic military history as Phil was the first Jumping Mustang on the ground as A Co 1st Bn 8th Cav(ABN) made the first night by helicopter in to enemy held territory under enemy fire and we were surrounded. Phil was not the first Jumping Mustang on the ground at Historic LZ Mary he also shared his ammo with 1/9th Cav who was already on the, a selfless act as ammo became a scarce-very scarce item in a very short time. Phil was one of a kind and I will dearly miss My Airborne Jumping Hero Brother-Combat-in-Arms!
I love you “Brother Hero Alphagator”!
God Bless & Rest In Peace ! Smitty10
